By participating in the Sarcastic Memes study, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

2. Research Participation Agreement

By participating, you understand and agree that:

• This is a voluntary academic research study
• You are free to stop participating at any time
• Your demographic and background information will be collected
• Your responses to memes will be recorded
• All data will be anonymized and used for research purposes only

3. Data Collection Consent

You agree to the collection of:

• Basic demographic information (age range, nationality)
• Social media usage information
• Language background details
• English language learning history (if applicable)
• Your responses to meme classifications

4. Student Participation

For students of Oliver Cakebread-Andrews:

• Your participation is completely voluntary
• This study has no impact on your academic grades
• You can decline to participate without any consequences
• You can withdraw at any time without affecting your academic standing

5. English Language Learners

For non-native English speakers:

• This is not an English proficiency assessment
• Your responses have no bearing on your language ability
• You are encouraged to respond based on your genuine impressions
• There are no "correct" answers to aim for

6. Participant Rights

You maintain the right to:

• Access information about the research project
• Withdraw from participation at any time
• Request removal of your data from the study
• Ask questions about any aspect of the research
• Receive information about the research outcomes

10. Withdrawal Process

If you wish to withdraw from the study:

• You can stop participating at any point

• Your data will be removed from the study upon request
• There are no consequences for withdrawal
